Unfortunately, when after it downloaded and selected, i was told it was not a suitable voice. It worked no problem on the 730 which I dearly miss. TT have clearly lost the concept of 'TT as an entertainment device'. There is also another slight issue. With the TT ONE XLS you could overwrite certain language files with your own and it made no difference you were still offered a choice of voices to compliment it for spoken street names etc.

On the VIA if you overwrite a language file ( I did the french one) it will allow you to select that for the custom voice and then tell you that you CANNOT select a voice for the street names etc. as the language is not the same. And then proceeds to dump you back on the map screen. For those who have a large voice collection it needs to be made clear that you should NOT overwrite exixsting voices or that you are limited to the custom slots made available (cannot remember what that number range is) If you have custom slots still available you could just rename the three files to one of the numbers that is still available and then install. Will also CONFIRM the Gaon method as I could only select one file at a time for install! How did you select more than one WP?

I may give up on this thread soon. I found *.chk and *.vif files in my old 730 backup for data04, data05, data118 and data162. Because they did not have any associated bitmap I made some 160x160 BMPs with simply the number 04, 05, 118 and 162 present. Good for identification I thought. (Far be it from me to suggest that files might be named sensibly like Jane.chk and Steve.vif) - no I can appreciate the human unfriendly geek mindset of the developer who decided datann was a better way to identify the files). So I uploaded the 12 files to my TT and lo and behold under the voice selection I saw.

Well not nothing I saw the few English voices and the dozens of unwanted foriegn voices clogging up the system. But I saw no sign of my uploads. Did one of you say that if there is already a voice in the proprietary part of the device with the same name, it took precedence.

So I renamed the files to data504, data505 etc.etc and uploaded them and. NOTHING I give up.
