I presume you made a DOS partition, formatted it and copied your files from the 'old' DOS partition? By default, if you choose to let FDISK not use the entire disk for its DOS partition, it doesn't set the partition as 'active'.

Boot from a DOS diskette with FDISK on it, run FDISK, and select the second option ('Make a partition active',or something like that), and give the number of your DOS partition. Exit FDISK, and restart your server without the floppy. If it still doesn't boot, try booting from a floppy with SYS on it, and run 'SYS C:' (without the quotes). That will copy DOS' boot files to your C:-drive (the same as what happens when you type FORMAT /S), and those two things should get you up and running. From there on your Autoexec should do the rest.

Hi, I have a Compaq Proliant 1000 server which recently had a NIC card failure. I purchased an Intel Pro/100ISA NIC card which I was assured would work. I had no problem installing it from a hardware perspective though I did have to create a.cfg file, (Compaq server requirement), and had to do the addressing manually, (IRQ, DMA, & MEMORY ADDRESS), as there were no examples or sample.cfg files available at the Compaq, Novell, or Intel websites. I loaded ETHERTSM.NLM, NBI.NLM, and MSM.NLM correctly, (had to get newer versions to correct and error message, 'Loader cannot find public symbol ).

Loaded E100ISA.LAN using the same slot= as the original and used FRAME=ETHERNET_802.3. Bound IPX to the card using NET=1, the same as the original.

Everything loads without errors and I just can't see the server on any of the workstations. Workstations are running WIN98, ME & NT with the lastest Netware client versions. They worked before the server's NIC car failed. I can see the server through SAP on my other server, running Netware 5.0 when I set TRACK=ON.

If anyone has any ideas please feel free to post it. I would greatly appreciate it as it is our PAYROLL SERVER and it would be nice to get paid and make the bookkeeper happier. Honestly, I have had more problems with Intel NIC's than any other. Gna600 Usb Driver. Usually, if I have a problem with an Intel that I can't fix in 10 minutes, I will replace it with a 3COM NIC. It seems that I have almost never had an issue getting a 3COM NIC to work! I have found that the problems with the Intel NICs are usually drivers and/or its associated files.
